Pacific Ballet's 'Nutcracker' slated this weekend in MV

The Pacific Ballet Academy’s 27th annual production of “The Nutcracker” is scheduled this weekend at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts’ MainStage, 500 Castro St.

Sponsored by the San Jose Ballet Association, the classic holiday performance follows young Clara as she travels through the Land of Sweets with the Nutcracker Prince.

'Hour' is near

Los Altos Stage Company is set to perform the musical “The 1940s Radio Hour,” written by Walton Jones, Nov. 30 through Dec. 23 at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.

The musical debuted on Broadway in 1979. The show begins in New York, as radio station WOV records its final holiday broadcast to overseas troops, playing classic American songs such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Blue Moon” and “Stormy Weather.”

Sunday is last shot to see Ralphie in PYT's 'Christmas Story' musical

Peninsula Youth Theatre’s production of “A Christmas Story” – a musical version of the classic 1983 movie – is scheduled to run through Sunday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Set in the 1940s, the comedy follows young Ralphie Parker, who desperately wants a Red Ryder air rifle for Christmas and plots ways to ensure that Santa Claus will make his dream come true.

Palo Alto Players puts away 'Pan' after this weekend's performances

The Palo Alto Players production of “Peter Pan” is scheduled to close Sunday at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Based on the play by James M. Barrie, the story follows Peter Pan and the Darling children to faraway Neverland, where they encounter the loony Lost Boys, pirates led by Captain Hook and a carnivorous crocodile.

Foothill play won't 'Happen' after Sunday

Foothill Theatre Arts’ adaptation of Sinclair Lewis’ classic novel “It Can’t Happen Here” is slated to conclude Sunday in the Loh- man Theatre at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.

The dark satire follows newspaper editor Doremus Jessup’s perspective on the election of an unlikely candidate to the presidency and the response of a citizenry when the system does not fix itself and instead spirals into chaos.

'Autumn' concert set for Sunday

The National Association of Composers is scheduled to present a concert of new music, “Autumn Song,” 3 p.m. Sunday at Foothills Congregational Church in Los Altos.

The concert will feature “Bodega Bay,” a composition by Los Altos resident and music teacher Sondra Clark, along with works by other Bay Area composers.
