Town Crier Report
Smuin Contemporary Ballet, which performs several times a year at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, recently introduced its online Hump Day Ballet series.
Each Wednesday in April a different ballet from Smuin’s repertoire, curated by a company dancer, will be released via streaming to the public for free. Accompanied by a video intro, the prerecorded performances will be available for only 48 hours; viewing instructions will be announced through Smuin’s email list, Facebook (facebook.com/SmuinBallet) and Instagram (instagram.com/smuinballet).
Today’s video is Val Caniparoli’s “Tutto Eccetto il Lavandino,” chosen by former Smuin dancer Rex Wheeler, who will introduce it.
The sharing of the productions is made possible by support from Smuin’s partners, including the choreographers, unions and composers providing permission outside of standard contracts to share the creations with the community.
