TheatreWorks stages 'Language' at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley launched its 50th season with “The Language Archive,” scheduled to run through Aug. 4 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Julia Cho’s comedy is about a linguist fighting for the preservation of near-extinct languages as he struggles to maintain his relationships at home.

Jeffrey Lo directs. He helmed TheatreWorks’ last two productions of “The Santaland Diaries.”

The cast features actors and actresses who have previously appeared on Broadway and in television programs, including Francis Jue, Emily Kuroda, Jomar Tagatac, Elena Wright and Adrienne Kaori Walters.

TheatreWorks veterans Jue and Kuroda star as Resten and Alta, a couple who are the last speakers of a dying language. Tagatac makes his TheatreWorks debut as George, a linguist committed to preserving dying languages.

Performances are slated 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 8 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays.
