Foothill Music Theatre’s production of “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” opened last week and is set to run through Aug. 4 at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills.

The songwriting team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II – creators of “The Sound of Music” and “South Pacific” – developed the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

The Foothill production, a contemporary take on the classic tale, features the new book by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane. Songs include “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible” and “Ten Minutes Ago.”

Milissa Carey directs.

Christina Lea stars as Ella, an intelligent and kind young woman who captures the heart and mind of a prince. The play also features Edward Clark (as young prince Topher), Jasmine Johnson (Ella’s stepmother Madame), Melissa Gialdini (Ella’s stepsister Gabrielle) and Gwyneth Forrester (Ella’s stepsister Charlotte).

Performances are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 4 in Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road. An additional matinee is scheduled 2 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $15-$36.
