TheatreWorks Silicon Valley is set to present “Archduke” today through June 30 at the Mountain View Center for Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. The play previews today through Friday and opens Saturday.
Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, “Archduke” tells the story of three luckless insurgents who become embroiled in the 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, unknowingly catalyzing World War I.
Giovanna Sardelli, TheatreWorks’ director of new works, directs “Archduke.” Sardelli directed “Finks” in 2018 and the “Velocity of Autumn” in 2016, among other productions. Archduke features Stephen Stocking (as Gavrilo), Adam Shonkwiler (Nedeljko) and Jeremy Kahn (Trifko) as the three central characters. Other cast members include Scott Coopwood (Apis) and Luisa Sermol (Sladjana).
Performances are slated 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays (after this week), 2 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 8 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays.
