CSMA presents inaugural Merit Scholars concert Saturday

The Community School of Music and Arts’ inaugural Merit Scholar Honors Concert is scheduled 5 p.m. Saturday in Tateuchi Hall at CSMA, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View.

The free event will feature CSMA’s top Merit Scholar performers – selected by audition – playing classical pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Heberle, Joan Tower, Rachmaninoff and Shchedrin. Performers include pianists Russell Chien, Andrew Gao, Frederick Nitta and Daniel Tan, along with Oz Anisman (recorder) and Jonah Blaydes-Greenberg (viola).

CSMA Merit Scholars are awarded scholarships based on a high level of commitment, talent and achievement in their music studies, according to a school press release. Regarded as local ambassadors for the CSMA Music School, the Merit Scholars perform at events throughout the community.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m.; seating is limited.
