The Community School of Music and Arts is scheduled to present a free concert with pianist Mandy Chiu 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Tateuchi Hall at CSMA, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View.
Lisa Lee (violin) and Kevin Yu (cello) will accompany Chiu, who has vast experience as a soloist, chamber music artist, ballet accompanist and teacher.
Chiu’s program includes a selection of French composer Claude Debussy’s most celebrated compositions in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of his death. Debussy is considered a pioneer in modern composition for his ability to introduce new tonal colors into the world of music. The concert will feature works for violin and piano duo, cello and piano duo, and a piano trio.
Chiu’s performing career has taken her to Taiwan, Sydney, Queensland, Boston and New York. She has a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Boston University and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Sydney University Conservatorium of Music. She is also an active member in the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program, the ABRSM Association and the Music Teachers’ Association of California. A music teacher for 20 years, Chiu has been part of the faculty at CSMA since 2015.
