PYT puts on 'Dreamcoat'

Peninsula Youth Theatre’s production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is schedued to open Saturday and run through May 20 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The musical follows Joseph, the favorite child of Jacob’s 12 sons. To make his status clear, Jacob buys Joseph a spectacular, multicolored coat to wear. This, along with Joseph’s disturbing dreams, causes his brothers to hatch a plot against their troublesome brother.

Marcie Shapiro directs and serves as choreographer; Steve Shapiro is the vocal director.

Performances are slated 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, 9:30 a.m. May 17, 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. May 18, 2 and 7:30 p.m. May 19 and 1 p.m. May 20 on the MainStage.
