TheatreWorks Silicon Valley and Marin Theatre Company’s co-production of “Skeleton Crew” is scheduled to preview today, open Saturday and run through April 1 in Palo Alto.

Written by Dominique Morisseau, “Skeleton Crew” creates a world in which ambitious dreams and corporate deception interweave, pushing friendships to the limit.

Set in 2008 during the Great Recession, “Skeleton Crew” follows a makeshift family of auto-plant workers navigating the possibility of foreclosure. Among the workers are working-class dreamer Shanita, who has to figure out how to take care of her unborn child; Faye, whose living situation is up in the air; determined and street-savvy Dez, who grapples with making his dreams a reality; and auto-plant manager Reggie, who is caught between doing right by his workers and the red tape from the plant.

“Skeleton Crew” won an Obie Award in 2016, the year it debuted Off Broadway.

Jade King Carroll directs the production, which premiered at the Marin Theatre Company earlier this year. The play stars Margo Hall, Christian Thompson, Lance Gardner and Tristan Cunningham.

Saturday’s opening-night show is slated 8 p.m. Future performances are set for 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road.

Tickets are $40-$100, with discounts available for educators, seniors and patrons 35 and under.
