'Beauty and the Beast' closes this weekend

Peninsula Youth Theatre’s production of “Beauty and the Beast” is slated to run through Sunday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The production is a full-length musical based on Disney’s animated classic. Lively and cultured Belle sacrifices her freedom to save her father, becoming the captive of the Beast, who dwells in an enchanted castle.

Director and choreographer Brian Miller performed in PYT’s first production of the musical in 2005. Holly Smolik provides vocal direction.

Shows are scheduled 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 9:30 a.m. Thursday, 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $24 general, $20 educators and groups of 10 or more and $18 seniors and children 9 and under.
