Peninsula Youth Theatre’s world premiere of “Stink and the World’s Worst Super-Stinky Sneakers” – the latest production in its Stories on Stage series – is slated to run Friday and Saturday in Mountain View.

The play, adapted for PYT, is based on Megan McDonald’s humorous children’s book.

Stink Moody just knows that his sneakers are a shoe-in to win the All-Time World’s Worst Super-Stinky Sneaker Contest and the grand prize: the Golden Clothespin.

Karen Simpson Gardiner directs a cast that includes Jane Beeler, William Blackburn, Rachel Farhoudi, Serena Gaylord, Josh Gefken, Nicole Kolmanovsky, Derron Mendel, Sarah Mulzet, Ash Prodromou, Shir Toledo, Renee Vetter and Rachel Warsaw.

Stories on Stage productions feature PYT’s most experienced teen actors performing children’s fiction, fairy tales and poetry. The professionally directed shows are “black box” productions with no-fuss staging and limited to 40 minutes in an effort to fully engage young theatergoers’ imaginations. Audiences have the opportunity to ask questions of the actors after every show and receive a bookmark with suggestions of children’s books to read.

Performances of “Super-Stinky Sneakers” are scheduled 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Tickets are $10.
