TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents David Sedaris’ comedic holiday show “The Santaland Diaries” starting this week in Los Altos Hills.

The one-man show is slated to preview today, open Thursday and run through Dec. 23 in the Lohman Theatre at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road.

Sedaris’ international career as a memoirist took off when he recounted – in an essay he first read on NPR’s “Morning Edition” in 1992 – his short tenure at Macy’s as Crumpet the Elf. Adapted by Joe Mantello, the one-man show is the story of an ill-equipped elf forced to confront child meltdowns, overbearing parents and complacent Santas.

Max Tachis stars as David; Jeffrey Lo directs.

The play is recommended for mature audiences.

Performances are scheduled 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 7:30 and 10 p.m. Fridays, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 4 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets are $20-$45.

For tickets and more information, call 463-1960 or visit theatreworks.org.
