Peninsula Youth Theatre this weekend presents “Oskar and the Eight Blessings,” the latest production in its Stories on Stage series at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, Second Stage.

The world premiere production was adapted for PYT by Brian Miller. It is based on the book – winner of the 2015 National Jewish Book Award for Children’s Literature – by Richard Simon and Tanya Simon, with illustrations by Mark Siegel.

When Oskar is sent to America to live with an aunt, his father reminds him that even in bad times, people can be good. So as he takes his first steps in this unfamiliar country, he looks for blessings.

Marcie Shapiro directs the 40-minute black-box production.

Performances are scheduled 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts is located at 500 Castro St.

Tickets are $10.
