Cal Pops' holiday concert set for Dec. 3

The all-request California Pops Orchestra is scheduled to perform its “Pops’ Family Christmas” concert 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in Flint Center at De Anza College, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino.

The program will feature holiday hits from Broadway, TV, big band and Hollywood, in addition to traditional Christmas favorites and a carol sing-along, including “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Little Drummer Boy” and “Merry Christmas, Darling.”

The concert will include vocalists Matthew Hall and Carly Honfi, who have performed in South Bay Musical Theatre’s “Broadway by the Decade.”

“We started putting together the 2017 Christmas show the day after the 2016 show – that’s when folks call, email and write in what they liked best, what their kids sang along to the loudest,” conductor Kim Venaas said. “We get plenty of requests because that’s what we do – we’re an all-request symphony orchestra. The biggest challenge isn’t deciding what to put in, it’s deciding what to leave out.”

Tickets are $20-$55.

For tickets, call 856-8432 or visit ticketmaster.com and enter “California Pops Orchestra” in the search bar. For more information, visit calpops.org.
