The Foothill Music Theatre production of the Tony Award-nominated musical “Side Show” – the true story of conjoined twins who rose to become stars in the 1930s – is scheduled to close Sunday in Los Altos Hills.
“Side Show” tells the story of Violet and Daisy Hilton, twins conjoined at the hip, and how their extraordinary bond brings them fame but denies them love. It follows the twins’ progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie “Freaks.”
The play features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger.
Milissa Carey directs “Side Show,” joined by choreographers Brett and CJ Blankenship and musical director Dolores Duran-Cefalu.
Lauren Meyer and Jessica LaFever star as Violet and Daisy, respectively. Meyer, a Foothill veteran, reprises a role she played at the Capistrano Center for the Performing Arts. LaFever – who has appeared in leading roles at Sunnyvale Community Players, Marin Summer Theater and South Bay Musical Theatre – makes her Foothill debut.
“Side Show” also stars Edward Clark (as Jake), Tarif Pappu (Buddy), Sean Okuniewicz (Terry) and Kenneth Boswell (Sir). Ensemble members include Vanessa Alvarez, Kyle Arrouzet, Melissa Baxter, Matthew Blank, Felicity Chang, Naomi Evans, Christina Fortune, Kayvon Kordestani, Danny Martin, Sam Nachison, Nick Rodrigues, Heather Steffen and Robert Vetter.
Shows are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday in Lohman Theatre at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road.
Tickets are $12-$32.
