San Francisco Chamber Orchestra comes to MV for free performance Jan. 1

The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra is scheduled to perform 3 p.m. Jan. 1 on the MainStage at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The free concert, titled “Mozart in the City,” will feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s masterworks performed with four special guests: Ben Simon, conductor; Brad Walker, bass; Michel Taddei, double bass; and Robert Schwartz, piano.

The program includes the overture to “Le Nozze di Figaro,” K. 492; Symphony No. 38 in D major, K. 504 (“Prague”); “Per Questa Bella Mano,” K. 612; and Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466.

Founded in 1953, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra aims to make classical music accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds across the Bay Area by providing fully professional, admission-free concerts and educational programming.

Robin Sharp serves as concertmaster.
