Los Altos High baseball team wins fourth game in a row

The Los Altos High baseball team is on another winning streak, claiming its fourth game in a row with Saturday’s extra-inning victory at Half Moon Bay. The Eagles outlasted the Cougars 6-4 in 11 innings.

Los Altos, which opened the season with eight straight wins, improved to 12-1 overall with the non-league victory.

LA grads help college reach hoops playoffs

Los Altos High graduates Daniel Rosenbaum and Matt Eberle were part of the Pomona-Pitzer men’s basketball team that reached the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament this month. The 11th-seeded Sagehens routed Texas-Dallas 58-37 before falling to No. 2 Whitman 83-74 March 2. Senior guard Rosenbaum, who scored 20 points in the loss, was named First Team All-West by the National Association of Basketball Coaches for his play this season. Eberle, a freshman forward, played in 19 games off the bench.

MV Sports Boosters host golf tournament

The Mountain View High School Sports Boosters second golf tournament is slated April 6 at Shoreline Golf Links. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the shotgun start is at noon. Registration is $150 for adults and $100 for students; cost includes gift bag, food and drinks. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High athletics. Mtn. View softball team routs Gunderson, then edges Carlmont

Rebounding from an 0-2 start to the season, the Mountain View High softball team won both its non-league games last week.

The visiting Spartans followed a 14-0 shellacking of Gunderson March 11 with a 2-1 win at Carlmont Thursday.

Local resident aces 11th hole at Shoreline

Los Altos resident Steve Shepherd made a hole-in-one March 11 at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View. He achieved the feat on the 137-yard 17th hole, using a 7 iron, according to Shoreline general manager Steve Janisch.
