Local residents face off in softball Saturday

Residents of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills are encouraged to register for the second community softball game between the two cities, slated 1-3 p.m. Saturday. The coed game – meant as a friendly, cross-town rivalry competition – will take place at Rosita Park, 401 Rosita Ave., Los Altos. Participation is free and open to adult residents. Fall basketball camp tips off next month

Spartans Sports Camp’s Fall Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays in September and October (except Sept. 26) in the Mountain View High gym. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Registration is $395 for all seven Saturdays or $60 for one day; cost includes a T-shirt, water bottle and drawstring backpack. SFHS sports exams offered tonight in LA

St. Francis High’s sports physicals are scheduled tonight at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, 370 Distel Circle, Los Altos, for incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors. Student-athletes must have a current physical before tryouts. Exam times: 6:30 p.m. for sophomores; 7 p.m. for juniors; and 7:30 p.m. for seniors. Cost is $65. Chamber golf tourney tees off Monday

The 30th annual Los Altos Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament is scheduled Monday at Los Altos Golf & Country Club, 1560 Country Club Drive. Cost is $335; fee includes lunch, tee prizes, silent auction, cocktails and barbecue dinner, as well as awards and prizes. Cost to attend only the post-golf party is $65. Mtn. View Tennis offers summer classes

Mountain View Tennis’ summer recreation classes are scheduled Saturday through Aug. 30 at Cuesta, Rengstorff, Whisman, Cooper and Sylvan parks. Day and evening classes for all ages and skill levels are offered; fees vary by class. In addition, weekly summer tennis camps for ages 7-14 run through Aug. 16 at Cuesta.
