LA’s Sage takes 48th at west regional
Los Altos High senior Adam Sage placed 48th in the Championship Boys division of the Foot Locker Cross-Country West Regional, held Dec. 7 at Mt. San Antonio College. Sage ran the 5K course in 15 minutes, 36.9 seconds. The race featured 250 runners from California, Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
GreenTown bike ride set for Saturday
GreenTown Los Altos’ fifth annual Winter Solstice Night Bike Ride is scheduled 7 p.m. Saturday. The 12-mile ride begins at Peet’s Coffee & Tea in downtown Los Altos and goes as far as Christmas Tree Lane in Palo Alto before returning to Los Altos, with a stop for hot chocolate on the way back. Those taking part in the free, family-friendly ride are encouraged to decorate their bicycles with twinkle lights, wear helmets and warm clothes, and make sure bike lights are operational. Tree lots benefit high school sports
A holiday tree lot benefiting athletics and performing arts programs at Mountain View High is open 5-8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends next to the football field at 3535 Truman Ave. The nonprofit Mountain View High School Sports Boosters manages the lot, which offers noble, Douglas and Nordmann firs, along with wreaths, tree stands and decorative reindeer. MVHS hosts youth basketball camp
Spartans Sports Camp’s Holiday Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 26-30 in the gym at Mountain View High School, 3535 Truman Ave. Open to boys and girls in grades 3-8, the fast-paced camp focuses on honing shooting, ball-handling and defensive skills.
