Golfer Inkster enters San Jose HOF

Pro golfer Juli Inkster of Los Altos is part of the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. She and three other athletes will be inducted Nov. 14 in a ceremony at the SAP Center in San Jose. All inductees are recognized with a bronze plaque on the concourse at the SAP Center. Already a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Inkster has won multiple championships on the amateur and professional levels. Tickets to next month’s event start at $300. MVHS Turkey Trot set for Nov. 28

The Mountain View High Sports Boosters’ 10th annual Spartan Turkey Trot is scheduled Nov. 28 on the school track. The 5K run/walk is slated at 8:30 a.m., the kids runs (60 and 400 yards) at 9:30 a.m. and the Spartan Mile at 10 a.m. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Online registration fees are $35 adults, $25 children ages 5-17, $20 high school district students and $10 children under 5. In-person registration, which starts at 7:30 a.m., is $40 for all age groups. The event is capped at 1,400 participants; pets are prohibited. CIF offers seniors college scholarships

The California Interscholastic Federation is accepting applications for the 2020 CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, aimed at college-bound seniors with exemplary academic and athletic careers. The CIF will award $5,000 scholarships to two state winners and $1,000 scholarships to 20 section winners. The deadline is Feb. 20. To apply, visit cifstate.org.
