MV grad leads U.S. to gold medal in Peru

Mountain View High graduate Adam Krikorian (Class of 1992) guided the USA women’s national water polo team to the gold medal at last month’s Pan American games in Lima, Peru. Team USA crushed Canada 24-4 in the championship game. Krikorian, who coached the team to gold medals at the last two Olympics, will try for a third next summer in Tokyo.

MV’s Trailblazer Race returns to Shoreline

The 25th annual Trailblazer Race is scheduled Sept. 29 at Shoreline Park, 2905 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, a nonprofit organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from San Francisco Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Trailblazer Race features 10K and 5K races, both USATF certified, along with a 3-mile trail walk into the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge and an array of family-friendly activities. Cost is $20-$35. Fall basketball camp underway at MVHS

Spartans Sports Camp’s Fall Basketball Camp is slated 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays in September and October (except Sept. 28) in the Mountain View High gym. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Registration is $60 per day; cost includes a T-shirt, water bottle and drawstring backpack. Golf fundraiser set for next month

Special Operations’ annual golf tournament is scheduled Oct. 21 at Los Altos Golf & Country Club, 1560 Country Club Drive. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the organization’s goal of keeping kids safe from sex trafficking in the Bay Area. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch is at noon and the shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cocktails and a silent auction follow the 18 holes of golf at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 6 p.m. Cost is $400 per player.
