Trio of SF grads start on SCU soccer team

The three St. Francis High graduates on the nationally ranked Santa Clara University women’s soccer team are all starters this season. Senior DB Pridham plays in the midfield, junior Sofia Jones (a Los Altos Hills native) is a defender and senior Courtney Ogren is the Broncos’ goalkeeper.

MV’s Trailblazer Race returns to Shoreline

The 25th annual Trailblazer Race is scheduled Sept. 29 at Shoreline Park, 2905 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, a nonprofit organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from the San Francisco Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Trailblazer Race features 10K and 5K races, both USATF certified, along with a 3-mile trail walk into the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge and an array of family-friendly activities. Cost is $20-$35. Fall basketball camp tips off this month

Spartans Sports Camp’s Fall Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays in September and October (except Sept. 26) in the Mountain View High gym. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Registration is $60 for one day; cost includes a T-shirt, water bottle and drawstring backpack. Golf fundraiser set for next month

Special Operations’ annual golf tournament is slated Oct. 21 at Los Altos Golf & Country Club, 1560 Country Club Drive. All proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the nonprofit organization’s goal of keeping children safe from sex trafficking in the Bay Area. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch is at noon and the shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cocktails and a silent auction follow the 18 holes of golf at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 6 p.m. Cost is $400 per player. Women’s golf group seeks new members

City of Mountain View offers open gym

The Mountain View Recreation Division’s Teen Open Gym, free and open to all of the city’s middle and high school students, is scheduled 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Whisman Sports Center, 1500 Middlefield Road. The weekly events offer youth a place to play pick-up basketball, volleyball and indoor soccer. All participants are required to display their student IDs at the door.
