Inkster wins golf event in Washington state

Los Altos resident Juli Inkster won the Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup June 9 at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston, Wash. She shot a 7-under-par 66 in the final round to finish the two-day tournament with a 15-under 131. This marked Inkster’s fifth win on The Legends Tour, the LPGA’s senior tour. A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Inkster has won nearly 40 professional events.

MV council honors high school teams

At last week’s council meeting, the city of Mountain View recognized teams from Los Altos and Mountain View highs that won Central Coast Section championships this school year. The CCS champs included the girls water polo, girls volleyball and gymnastics teams from Los Altos and the boys basketball and baseball teams from Mountain View.

Summer solstice ride set for Friday

GreenTown Los Altos’ summer solstice night bike ride is slated 7:30 p.m. Friday. The 18-mile ride begins at Peet’s Coffee & Tea in downtown Los Altos and travels on Los Altos Avenue into Palo Alto before stopping at the Baylands to enjoy the sunset at 8:32 p.m. Cyclists return to Los Altos via the Stevens Creek Trail, with an optional stop in Mountain View for hot chocolate, coffee and socializing. AYSO Region 43 kicks off registration

Registration has opened for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The Los Altos-based region is for boys and girls born in 2006-2015. Students from Santa Rita, Covington, Almond, Gardner Bullis, Bullis Charter, Pinewood, St. Nicholas and Egan schools usually play in Region 43. Registration still open for basketball camp

Los Altos Basketball Camp, directed by Los Altos High boys basketball coach Trevor Naas, has one session left this summer: June 24-27. It runs 9 a.m. to noon in the school gym. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Campers will learn fundamental skills and participate in a variety of drills, competitions and games. Cost is $225; scholarships are available.
