Trio of local athletes to be honored Monday
Three winter-sport athletes from local high schools will be honored at the 49ers Cal-Hi Sports Report’s end-of-the-year awards banquet, scheduled 5:30 p.m. Monday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The award winners include Mountain View High freshman Allie Montoya (CCS Girls Soccer Player of the Year) and Pinewood School senior basketball players Hannah Jump and Klara Astrom (Co-CCS Scholar Athletes of the Year). AYSO Region 43 kicks off registration
Registration is now open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The Los Altos-based region is for boys and girls born in 2006-2015. Students from Santa Rita, Covington, Almond, Gardner Bullis, Bullis Charter, Pinewood, St. Nicholas and Egan schools usually play in Region 43. AYSO has six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. Pay registration fees by May 27 to receive a discount. Registration now open for hoops camp at LAHS
Los Altos Basketball Camp – directed by Los Altos High varsity boys basketball head coach Trevor Naas – is scheduled for two sessions this summer: June 17-20 and June 24-27. Both sessions run 9 a.m. to noon in the school’s main gym. The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-8. Campers will be taught fundamental skills of the game and participate in a variety of drills, competitions and games. Cost is $225 for one session and $400 for both. Scholarships are available.
