SFHS grad Johnson dealt to Suns
NBA guard Tyler Johnson, a St. Francis High graduate, last week was traded from the Miami Heat to the Phoenix Suns. The 26-year-old Johnson averaged 10.8 points and 2.5 assists per game for the Heat this season.
Winter hoops camp starts Monday at MV
Spartans Sports Camp’s Winter Break Basketball camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Feb. 22 at Mountain View High School. The camp, open to boys and girls in grades 3-8, focuses on shooting, ball-handling and defense. Cost is $250 through Feb. 1, then goes to $275. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High athletics. Local water polo club opens youth sign-ups
Registration for NorCal Aquatics’ spring session of youth water polo is now open. For boys and girls ages 8-14, the session is slated to run Feb. 25 through May 1 at Los Altos High. Practices are scheduled 6-8 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; youth league games are set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 9, March 30, April 6 and April 27. Registration begins for softball league
The city of Mountain View’s adult softball league is scheduled to begin the week of March 11 on the Shoreline Athletic Fields at 2450 Garcia Ave. Divisions include Coed Recreational (Monday), Coed Intermediate (Tuesday), Men’s C/D Intermediate (Wednesday) and Men’s D Recreational (Thursday). Game times rotate weekly between 6:30, 7:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. The participation fee is $725 per team, plus $12.50 per nonresident player.
