Meet-the-coaches event set for today at MVHS

Mountain View High’s parent/coach information meeting for the spring sports season is scheduled 6:30-8:30 p.m. today in the school’s Spartan Theater. The event is an opportunity for parents to meet the coaches and ask them questions. Discussion topics will include participation requirements, specifically sports physicals and registration. Little League sign-ups for spring season start

Registration for the 2019 Los Altos & Los Altos Hills Little League spring season is now open. The league offers baseball (open to boys and girls ages 5-14) and softball (girls grades K-3) leagues. The season begins in March. To register and for more information, visit losaltoslittleleague.com.

Mtn. View’s AD Social slated for next month

Mountain View High Sports Boosters’ fifth annual Athletic Director Social is scheduled 7-11 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Drive. The event includes food and beverages, a silent auction and live music by school musicians. Tickets are $50. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High’s athletics and marching band. Registration begins for adult softball

The city of Mountain View’s adult softball league is set to begin the week of March 11 on the Shoreline Athletic Fields at 2450 Garcia Ave. Divisions include Coed Recreational (Monday), Coed Intermediate (Tuesday), Men’s C/D Intermediate (Wednesday) and Men’s D Recreational (Thursday). Game times rotate weekly between 6:30, 7:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. Cost is $725 per team, plus $12.50 per nonresident player. To register and for more information, visit mountainview.gov/softball.

Winter basketball camp set for MVHS in Feb.

Spartans Sports Camp’s Winter Break Basketball camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 18-22 at Mountain View High School. The camp, open to boys and girls in grades 3-8, focuses on shooting, ball-handling and defense. Cost is $250 through Feb. 1, then goes to $275. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High athletics. Women’s golf group invites new members

City of Mountain View offers free open gym

The Mountain View Recreation Division’s Teen Open Gym, free and open to the city’s middle and high school students, is scheduled 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Whisman Sports Center, 1500 Middlefield Road.
