Registration for the 2019 Los Altos & Los Altos Hills Little League spring season is open. The league offers baseball (open to boys and girls ages 5-14) and softball (girls grades K-3) leagues. The season begins in March. To register and for more information, visit

MROSD hosts hike at Rancho San Antonio

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District’s Scenic Aerobic Hike I is slated 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 9 at Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, which borders Los Altos and Cupertino. The free, docent-led hike is 4-6 miles. For more information, visit

CIF sets deadline for scholarship apps

Jan. 22 is the winter deadline to apply for the CIF Spirit of Sport Award, recognizing one male and one female statewide during each high school sports season. Selections are based on exemplary sportsmanship and school/community service and leadership. Each winner receives a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, 60 section winners (one male and one female from each of the 10 CIF Sections, in each season of sport) each receive a $500 scholarship. To apply and for more information, visit
