Stanford’s Boissiere makes the grade
Los Altos Hills native Jaye Boissiere was among 16 members of the Stanford women’s soccer team to earn Pac-12 All-Academic honors this year. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and appear in at least 50 percent of their teams’ games. A redshirt junior, midfielder Boissiere helped the Cardinal advanced to the NCAA semifinals last month.
Youth hoops camp tips off today at MV
Spartan Sports Camp’s Holiday Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon today through Saturday at Mountain View High, 3535 Truman Ave. Open to boys and girls in grades 3-8, the fast-paced camp focuses on shooting, ball handling and defense. Cost is $65 per day, or $285 for the week. Scholarships are available. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High athletics. CIF sets deadline for scholarship apps
Jan. 22 is the winter deadline to apply for the CIF Spirit of Sport Award, recognizing one male and one female statewide during each high school sports season. Selections are based on exemplary sportsmanship and school/community service and leadership, according to officials from the California Interscholastic Federation, which governs the state’s high school sports. Each winner receives a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, 60 section winners (one male and one female from each of the 10 CIF Sections, in each season of sport) receive a $500 scholarship.
