All-star football game set for next week

The 44th annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game is scheduled 7 p.m. July 18 at Los Gatos High. Also known as the Silicon Valley Youth Classic, the game pits the top graduated seniors from north Santa Clara County against those from the south side. Six local players are slated to play for the North: Vincent Colodny of Los Altos High, James Doherty, Una Kaufusi and Ozzy Ortiz Verdi of Mountain View High and Hulu Ahoia and Alex Waddell of St. Francis High. Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 for youth (ages 18 and under) in advance, and $5 more at the gate. For tickets and more information, visit youthclassic.org.

Pathways golf tourney tees off Monday

Pathways’ sixth annual Links to the Heart Golf Tournament is slated Monday at the Stanford University Golf Course. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $395 per player, which includes box lunch, awards dinner, welcome bag, contests and individual prizes. Proceeds benefit Pathways, a nonprofit group that provides hospice, home health and palliative care throughout the Bay Area. Local towns schedule softball game Aug. 18

Residents of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills are encouraged to register for the inaugural community softball game between the two cities, scheduled 1-3 p.m. Aug. 18. The co-ed match – meant as a friendly, cross-town rivalry competition – is coordinated by the Parks and Recreation departments of both cities, according to Sarah Robustelli, Los Altos Hills community services supervisor. The game will take place at Purissima Park in Los Altos Hills. Participation is free and open to all adult residents. AYSO Region 43 opens sign-ups for fall

Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season, scheduled to begin in September. The Los Altos-based region is for boys and girls born in 2000-2014 who attend or live near Santa Rita, Covington, Almond, Gardner Bullis, Bullis Charter, Pinewood, St. Nicholas, Egan or Los Altos High.
