MVHS grad wins title with UCLA volleyball

Mountain View High graduate Chanti Holroyd (Class of 2016) was a member of the UCLA women’s beach volleyball team that won the NCAA championship May 6 in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Bruins beat Florida State 3-1 in the final to claim their first national crown. Holroyd played three years of varsity volleyball at Mountain View and was voted the Co-MVP of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division her senior year.

Local AYSO kicks off fall season sign-ups

Registration is open for the AYSO Region 43 fall soccer season. The Los Altos-based region is for boys and girls born in 2000-2014 who attend or live near Santa Rita, Covington, Almond, Gardner Bullis, Bullis Charter, Pinewood, St. Nicholas, Egan and Los Altos High. MV sports physicals offered at PT Works

Mountain View High’s sports physicals for students who intend to play a sport during the 2018-19 school year are scheduled 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at PT Works, 794 Altos Oaks Drive, Los Altos. Local water polo club hosts summer sessions

Los Altos-based NorCal Aquatics has openings in its Youth Summer Water Polo Program, open to boys and girls ages 6-14. Executive director Seth Tasman said the program is structured to help build character and self-esteem, and instill a strong work ethic. Two-hour summer sessions are scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through May 31, and weekdays June 4 through July 20 at Los Altos High. MVHS Sports Boosters award scholarships

The Mountain View High School Sports Boosters are accepting applications for a pair of $1,500 scholarships they plan to award to a college-bound male and female this month. Eligible applicants must be a Mountain View High senior who has participated in two or more seasons of a sport and has a GPA of at least 2.5. The application requires a recommendation from a coach and writing an essay. The deadline is Thursday; recipients will be honored May 23. Red Star soccer tryouts set to start Monday
