St. Nick’s tourney slated this weekend

The 45th annual Kevin Kannengeiser Classic Basketball Tournament is scheduled Friday through Sunday in the gym at St. Nicholas Catholic School, 12816 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Eighth-grade boys teams from eight Bay Area schools are scheduled to compete. The event is named after retired teacher Kannengeiser, who spent 40 years at St. Nicholas. The tourney is set to tip off 7:45 p.m. Friday. Admission is $6 per day. The snack bar will feature burgers, pizza and baked goods. Hills’ Boissiere trains with national team

Los Altos Hills native Jaye Boissiere – a redshirt sophomore on Stanford University’s women’s soccer team – was invited to the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team’s first training camp of the year, held Jan. 4-11 in Carson. The midfielder scored the decisive goal in the Cardinal’s 3-2 win over UCLA in the national title game last month.

MVHS hosts hoops camp next month

Spartans Sports Camp’s Winter Break Basketball camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 19-23 at Mountain View High, 3535 Truman Ave. Open to boys and girls in grades 3-8, the fast-paced camp focuses on shooting, ball handling and defense. Cost is $65 per day, or $285 for the entire week. Scholarships are available. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High athletics. Women’s golf group invites new members

City of Mountain View offers open gym

The Mountain View Recreation Division’s Teen Open Gym, free and open to the city’s middle and high school students, is scheduled 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Whisman Sports Center, 1500 Middlefield Road.
