Pinewood’s Claros signs with San Diego

At an on-campus ceremony Nov. 9, Pinewood School senior Brianna Claros signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at UC San Diego. Claros, a point guard, is a four-year varsity player for the Panthers.

Local tree lots support high school sports

Tree lots benefiting athletics at Mountain View and Los Altos highs, respectively, are open for business. Proceeds from the Spartans Tree Lot go toward purchasing equipment and improving facilities at Mountain View High. Operating hours are 5-8 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends next to the football field at Mountain View High, 3535 Truman Ave. For more information, visit spartanstreelot.com. Proceeds from the Los Altos High Tree Lot support the school’s afterschool sports programs and clubs. MV quidditch team welcomes players

The Silicon Valley Skrewts, the region’s first adult community quidditch team, welcomes new players. Quidditch is a full-contact, gender-integrated sport. Practices are scheduled 1 p.m. Saturdays at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave., Mountain View. Athletic experience is encouraged but not required. Women’s golf group invites new members
