MV water polo team makes the grade

The Central Coast Section recently announced that the Mountain View High boys water polo team is among the squads it’s recognizing for excellence in the classroom. The Spartans have won a CCS Fall Season Scholastic Championship Team Award for posting a collective grade-point average that ranks among the top five in their sport. Mountain View, with a fourth-best GPA of 3.6533, will receive a team certificate and individual certificates of commendation.

Skrewts back to practice after tourney success

Rebounding from three close losses at the Golden Bear Invitational the prior weekend, the Mountain View-based Silicon Valley Skrewts quidditch team beat host Stanford twice and split a pair of games against San Jose State Nov. 5. The Skrewts return to their regular weekly open practice 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Rengstorff Park. Anyone interested in joining is welcome; no experience is necessary.

Fusion softball tryouts begin later this month

The Silicon Valley Fusion has scheduled tryouts for its 14, 16 and 18 A-level travel softball teams Sunday and Dec. 2 at local high schools. Part of Mountain View Los Altos Girls Softball, the tournament teams begin play in 2018. To register and for more information, visit
