All-star game nears

Los Altos High football coach Trevor Pruitt guides the North when it plays the South in the 40th annual Silicon Valley Youth Classic, slated 7:30 p.m. July 23 at San Jose City College. Also known as the Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game, the contest honors the late Los Gatos High coach and features senior standouts from throughout Santa Clara County. The North roster includes quarterback Lambie Lanman, receiver Victor Ruiz, defensive tackle Ofisa Pati and linebacker Josh Williams of Los Altos; utility player Anthony Avery and fullback Jake Butters of Mountain View; and halfback Alex Andrighetto and tackle Ryan Popolizio of St. Francis. Flag football camp

Returning for its ninth year, After School Athletics’ Flag Football Summer Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon July 28 through Aug. 1 at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-12. Instructors include football coaches from Mountain View and St. Francis highs and Foothill College. Cost is $250; lunch is an additional $50. Fall ball tryouts

Red Star registration

Registration is open for Red Star Soccer Academy summer training programs, including its Shooting Star Striker Training. Weeklong full, half-day and two-hour programs are offered to boys and girls ages 7-14 through July at Grant Park in Los Altos. Cost is $130-$295; scholarships and financial aid are available. Sports camp sign-ups

Spartans Sports Camp offers multisport, weeklong sessions for boys and girls in grades 2-6 as well as sport-specific sessions for grades 5-9 at Mountain View High. There are also strength and conditioning camps for grades 6-12 and cheerleading camps for grades Pre-K to 8. Mountain View coaches and student-athletes run the summer camp, scheduled through Aug. 1. Soccer kicks into gear

Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. AYSO follows six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. The registration fee is $195.
