Golfer Kim places 3rd
Stanford University sophomore Lauren Kim of Los Altos took third at last month’s NCAA Women’s Golf Championships – the best finish by a Cardinal player since 1992. Kim posted rounds of 67, 71, 72 and 67 at the event, held May 20-23 at Oklahoma’s Tulsa Country Club (par 70). The Los Altos High graduate was tied for first after the opening round and got off to a hot start the final day, bagging seven birdies in her first 12 holes.

Sports camp starts up
Spartans Sports Camp, which kicked off this week, offers multisport, weeklong sessions for boys and girls in grades 2-6 as well as sport-specific sessions for grades 5-9 at Mountain View High. There will also be strength and conditioning camps for grades 6-12, along with cheerleading camps for grades Pre-K to 8. Mountain View High coaches and student-athletes run the summer camp, scheduled through Aug. 1. Fees vary; proceeds benefit the school’s athletic department. Soccer kicks into gear
Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. AYSO follows six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. The registration fee is $195.
