The St. Francis High School Hall of Fame will gain a slew of new members Saturday night. Nine athletes and six teams are slated for induction during a ceremony on campus.
The inductees include six athletes who graduated in 1994: baseball player Eric Byrnes, football players Zack Walz and Eric Lewis, volleyball players Stacy Evans and Shelly Wolfe, and track and field athlete Erin Duffey.
Byrnes and Walz played professionally. Byrnes spent 11 years as a Major League Baseball outfielder, primarily with the Oakland A’s. Walz, a Los Altos native, was a linebacker for the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals for four seasons.
The other inductees include soccer player Gina Oceguera (Class of 1995), wrestler Barnard Arcinas (1990) and Steve DeMaestri, longtime coach and athletic director at the school.
Six St. Francis teams will join them in the hall of fame. Inductees include the 1993 football, girls volleyball, girls tennis and girls swimming and diving teams, along with the 1994 girls soccer and girls tennis squads.
After the induction dinner, the hall of fame will include 201 individual athletes and 55 teams.
The event is scheduled 5 p.m. in the Malcolm Center at St. Francis. Ticket sales ended Sunday.
