CCS honors two St. Francis coaches

Two recipients of the Central Coast Section Spring Sports Honor Coach Awards come from St. Francis High.

Revealed last month, boys tennis coach Richard Svedeman and track and field coach Mike Saso were among the nine winners – one per sport – recognized by their colleagues.

Los Altos and Mountain View highs honored the following athletes at their recent winter sports award ceremonies.

All-league honors were recently awarded to varsity high school athletes participating in winter sports.

Athletes from Los Altos, Mountain View, St. Francis and Pinewood who earned such accolades are listed below.

Local gymnastics teams spring into action

Los Altos High’s Roosa Uusitalo competes in Thursday night’s meet at Twisters.

Although coach Sarah Wallace had yet to receive the official results from her teams’ opening meet of the season, she saw enough to know that Los Altos and Mountain View highs excelled Thursday night at Twisters in Sunnyvale.

The coach said Friday that the Eagles “had a great first competition” and the Spartans “did extremely well” against Cupertino, Homestead and host St. Francis.
