MV cheer team claims state crown

Mountain View High’s competitive cheer team commemorates its Feb. 9 win at the JAMZ State Championships in Bakersfield.

The Mountain View High competitive cheer team is on a roll, placing first at two competitions and third at another in the past month.

The Spartans won the Varsity Show Cheer Level 1 at the JAMZ State Championships Feb. 9, a week after placing third in the same division at the Central Coast Section championships. They opened the season by winning the Novice Large Division with Tumbling at the TCC Invitational Jan. 26 at Wilcox High.

Mountain View beat out 10 teams for first place at the JAMZ competition, held in Bakersfield.

This marks the Spartans’ second year competing in the sport.
