LA's Inkster comes in second at U.S. Senior Women's Open

Los Altos resident Juli Inkster finished second at the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open, held last weekend at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill., earning $108,000.

Inkster entered Sunday’s final round five strokes behind leader Laura Davies, who doubled her advantage by day’s end. Davies shot a 16-under-par 276 for the tournament; Inkster shot a 6-under 286, two strokes ahead of third-place finisher Trish Johnson.

After nearly quitting pro golf, Kim keeps her dream on course

Lauren Kim, a Stanford University graduate from Los Altos, is on the LPGA Tour. Almost a year ago, she nearly quit pro golf.

It’s been nearly a year since Lauren Kim contemplated giving up golf – at least professionally.

The Los Altos native had finished her round at a tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D., when she got the call every competitive golfer dreads: She had been disqualified.

Juli Inkster of Los Altos is set to play in this weekend’s U.S. Senior Women’s Open at Chicago Golf Club.

Los Altos resident Juli Inkster has committed to play in the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open, scheduled Thursday through Sunday at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill.

A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Inkster was the second woman in LPGA history to complete the modern-day LPGA Career Grand Slam.

LA's Chou takes third at AJGA Jr. in Daly City


Los Altos resident Megan Chou placed third among the 60 girls competing in last week’s AJGA Junior at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City.

Chou, entering her junior year at Pinewood School, shot an 11-over-par 227 over three rounds. That put her four strokes behind winner Yu Wen Lu of Shanghai, China.
