Los Altos resident Juli Inkster has committed to play in the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open, scheduled Thursday through Sunday at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill.
A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Inkster was the second woman in LPGA history to complete the modern-day LPGA Career Grand Slam.
She is a two-time U.S. Open Champion (1999 and 2002) and three-time U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion (1980, 1981 and 1982).
The U.S. Senior Women’s Open will feature professional and amateur players ages 50 and older who have a Handicap Index of 7.4 or less.
The field includes 120 players, all of whom earned entry into the event through an exemption category or via sectional qualifying at sites nationwide.
Inkster earned exempt status in seven categories, according to the USGA.
Other hall of famers in the field include Laura Davies, Rosie Jones and Betsy King.
Chicago Golf Club, the oldest golf club in the United States in continuous use at the same location, hosts its 12th USGA championship and the first since the 2005 Walker Cup Match.
