One St. Francis High graduate is replacing another as the Lancers’ varsity boys golf coach.
Brian Inkster (Class of 1968) was hired last month to succeed Tyler Martin (2001).
“I am very excited to be the new head boys golf coach here at St. Francis,” Inkster said in a press release issued Dec. 13. “I have great respect for the school and hope to continue the great tradition of boys golf here at St. Francis.”
Inkster served as the director of golf at Los Altos Golf & Country Club for 37 years. Prior to that, he was the head golf pro at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz.
“St. Francis High School is very fortunate to have Brian Inkster as our new head boys varsity golf coach,” said Michael Pilawski, the school’s director of athletics. “His knowledge, experience and love for the game partnered with his knowledge and love for our school is a great combination. We are excited to have him in this capacity.”
Inkster is a longtime Los Altos resident. He and his wife – LPGA Hall of Famer Juli Inkster – both played golf at San Jose State. The couple has two daughters who graduated from St. Francis: Hayley (2008) and Cori (2012).
Martin, who coached the Lancers for one season, moved out of the area, according to Pilawski.
