The Nova 10U White softball team recently won the NorCal 10U C Junior Olympic championship. The team advanced to this month’s ASA Western Regional Championships in San Diego.

Nova 10U White of Mountain View-Los Altos Girls Softball claimed the NorCal 10U C Junior Olympic championship June 23.

Nova White beat out 20 other fast-pitch teams for the title, sweeping through a challenging bracket with five consecutive wins, four against teams that had won local tournaments the past month.

Nova White pitcher Cassie Chou dominated the competition, totaling 42 strikeouts and just five walks over 28 innings.

Third baseman Katelyn Albrecht led the girls on offense with a 1.195 OPS (a stat that calculates the sum of a player’s on-base and slugging percentages), while catcher Haley Gustavsen anchored the defense with solid work behind the plate.

By winning the three-day tourney, NOVA White accomplished its primary goal – qualifying for this month’s ASA Western Regional Championships in San Diego.

NOVA teams from three other age groups qualified for the Western Regionals as well. The 10U Red and 12U Red squads finished third and sixth, respectively, in the B divisions, while the 14U team took second in the C division.

The girls are working to raise money to offset the costs of traveling to their tournaments. To donate, send money via paypal.com to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
