LA, MV baseball teams start seasons with wins

Alex Reelfs and Zach Fuchs combined for a one-hitter Saturday as the Los Altos High baseball team opened its season with a 15-2 rout of San Lorenzo Valley.

Up 3-2 after five innings, the visiting Eagles exploded for 12 runs over the next two frames. Ben Parker totaled four hits and Aaron Parker drove in three runs.

Mountain View High scored early and often, then fended off a late run by Gunn to win its season-opener. The visiting Spartans prevailed 10-8 after jumping to a 9-4 lead three innings into the Feb. 20 game. The Titans closed the gap to 9-7 in the sixth; the teams traded runs in the seventh.

Michael Capote earned the win for the Spartans, striking out six batters over four innings; James Hoyt recorded the save.

Tristan Silveira notched four hits; Aran Cox had two hits, including a triple.
