Healthier MV boys team shoots for soccer playoffs

Beset by injuries last season, the Mountain View High boys soccer team missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade. The Spartans have enjoyed better health this year, and coach Jim McGuirk is optimistic about their chances of returning to the postseason.

Although smoky skies prevented the Mountain View High girls soccer team from practicing for nine days last month, it didn’t stop the Spartans from improving before their season kicked off.

Most of those days, coach Ivan Bandov gathered his girls indoors for tactical discussions and to play icebreaker games.
