The Los Altos High girls volleyball team remained undefeated by beating rival Mountain View in five sets Friday night. The host Eagles prevailed 25-21, 25-21, 13-25, 17-25, 16-14.
Carolyn Dormady served back-to-back aces to clinch the victory for Los Altos, which improved to 5-0 in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division. Dormady also scored the winning point in the second set with a kill to the back row that put her team up two games.
The Spartans rallied to tie the match, winning the third set on Millie Kopp’s block and taking the fourth game behind the strong play of Tessa Hunter, who scored four of her team’s final five points.
Mountain View, which lost to Palo Alto in four sets Saturday, entered this week with a 2-3 league record.
St. Francis rebounded from its lopsided loss at Serra by mauling Mitty 41-8 Saturday.
Halfback Camilo Arquette scored on a 3-yard run and on a 25-yard pass from Joshua Perry in the West Catholic Athletic League game. Perry also threw a 34-yard scoring strike to Johnny Tarantino.
Viliami Teu added touchdown runs of 2 and 3 yards. Fellow running back Aven Pamintuan completed the scoring with a 13-yard scamper in the third quarter.
The visiting Lancers improved to 1-1 in league and 2-1 overall.
Visiting Los Altos stayed with Gunn for most of the first half, but the unbeaten Titans pulled away by halftime en route to a 41-14 win Friday. The Eagles fell to 1-3 in the SCVAL El Camino Division.
Los Altos topped Palo Alto 6-2 Thursday behind a team effort, according to Eagles coach Mary Donahue.
