Event celebrates arrival of French pastor
The French Catholic community has scheduled a “Beaujolais Nouveau” wine and cheese event 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at St. Nicholas Hall, 473 Lincoln Ave., Los Altos.
Proceeds from the event will contribute to establishing the newly hired French-speaking priest in the parish, the Rev. Michel Renard. Renard arrived in August from France on a three-year visa through the Diocese of San Jose. Bishop Patrick McGrath nominated him as parochial vicar at St. Nicholas and St. William parishes and chaplain for the French-speaking community.
“Beaujolais Nouveau Day,” considered one of the most important days in France’s cultural calendar, is celebrated all over the world. It marks the release date of the season’s first Beaujolais wine, commemorated the third Thursday in November.
Tickets are $30. Reservations are required.
To purchase tickets and for more information, visit cathosv.org or stop by the St. Nicholas Church office 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
