JustREAD seeks volunteer tutors

JustREAD plans to serve more local students by adding to its volunteer pool.

The nonprofit organization provides academic support for middle and high school students in the Mountain View Whisman and Mountain View Los Altos Union High school districts, including one-on-one tutoring for students struggling in math and English.

Living Classroom recruits volunteers

The Living Classroom Program seeks volunteers who enjoy working with students and appreciate nature.

Volunteer docents lead interactive, hands-on lessons to teach students the interconnectedness of the world. The program reaches all grade levels in the Los Altos School District and includes hands-on education in science, math and social studies. The program now also serves schools in the Mountain View Whisman and Palo Alto Unified school districts.

Egan presents Holiday Faire

Egan Junior High School has scheduled its annual Holiday Faire 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday in the school’s multipurpose room, 100 W. Portola Avenue, Los Altos.

More than 300 students will host 170 booths with original handcrafted items such as hats, scarves, jewelry, homemade treats, ornaments, candies, wallets and more.

Nonprofit group seeks laptops for Egan students

Los Altos High School junior Terence Lee seeks donations of functioning laptops (Windows or Mac platform) with appropriate power adapters for students in need at Egan Junior High School.

Lee’s nonprofit EqOpTech aims to bridge the gap for students who do not have laptops at home.
