The Los Altos School District’s Living Classroom program seeks volunteers who enjoy working with students and appreciate nature.

Volunteer docents lead interactive, hands-on lessons to teach students the interconnectedness of the world. The program reaches all grade levels in the Los Altos School District and includes education in science, math and social studies. The program also serves the Mountain View Whisman School District.

Realtors offer scholarships for local students

The 17th annual Silicon Valley Realtors Scholarship Program for graduating seniors from 18 local public high schools is underway.

Sponsored by the charitable foundation of the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (SILVAR), the scholarship program is a partnership with local high schools in Silicon Valley.

Loyola K-Kids launch eyeglasses drive

The Loyola School K-Kids Club, sponsored by the Los Altos Kiwanis Club, will attempt to set a club record during its 10th annual “Share Old Spectacles” drive. The students hope to collect more than 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses.

The K-Kids Club, comprising second- through sixth-graders, has collected more than 8,000 pairs of glasses in nine years with the help of the public and local storeowners who offered space for collection buckets.

Loyola families package meals for families

In partnership with Together We Can End Hunger, Loyola School families are scheduled to package meals for families in need Saturday.

The group invites local residents to join them in their efforts and offers two shifts: 10-11 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Loyola School Multipurpose Room.
