Forum explores LASD-BCS controversy

The Los Altos Women’s Caucus has scheduled a community forum addressing the facts behind the facilities debate between the Los Altos School District and Bullis Charter School.

“Understanding the Basics: LASD and BCS” is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Orchard Room of the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road. The forum will cover how each entity operates, laws governing their operations and the impact each has on the other.

Living Classroom hosts info session

An information meeting and garden tour for potential Living Classroom docents is scheduled 10 a.m. May 23 at the Los Altos School District office, 201 Covington Road, Los Altos.

The Living Classroom program is currently in the process of recruiting more volunteer docents.

BCS K-3 students stage ‘Wizard of Oz’

Bullis Charter School’s production of “The Wizard of Oz” is scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a Saturday matinee set for 2 p.m., in the school’s north campus multipurpose room, 102 W. Portola Ave., Los Altos.

Students in grades K-3 star in the classic play, which follows Dorothy and her dog Toto on their journey through the magical land of Oz.

St. Nicholas hosts parenting talks

St. Nicholas Catholic School is set to host two “Parenting 101” events, 7 p.m. May 7 and May 8 at the school, 123816 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.

Both talks will focus on the differences between raising girls and boys and will feature presentations by experts in youth development.

Local students perform at MVHS jazz festival

Music students from local schools are scheduled to perform at the annual Mountain View High School Jazz Festival 11:30 a.m. Saturday on the campus quad, 3535 Truman Ave.

Students from Mountain View High, Los Altos High, Graham Middle School, Blach Intermediate School and more will play. Guest artist John Worley will be featured at the festival.

Montclaire hosts e-waste drop-off site

Montclaire Elementary School is slated to host an electronic waste drop-off site 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 in the school’s front parking lot, 1160 St. Joseph Ave., Los Altos.

Eligible items include recyclable electronics, phones, wires, cables, TVs, laptops, desktop computers, CDs, DVDs, printers, monitors, metals, batteries, dishwashers, microwaves and lawn mowers (without gasoline).
