Elephant fundraiser rescheduled

Los Altos student Uma Chirotarrab’s fourth annual elephant fundraiser is scheduled 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 16 in front of Sethi, 290 Main St., Los Altos.

Uma plans to hand out cookies, answer questions about elephants and collect donations for Tusk, an organization that supports conservation in Africa.

MVLA hosts Math Night for future students

The Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District has scheduled its second Math Night for the families of future high schoolers 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in Los Altos High’s Eagle Theater, 201 Almond Ave.

The event – designed for the families of kindergartners through eighth-graders who will attend Mountain View High or Los Altos High – will provide information on math pathways available to students and details on computer science and engineering courses. Families can learn more about how courses connect to different career paths in science, technology, engineering, arts and math fields.

Flex College Prep hosts admissions seminar

Flex College Prep is scheduled to host a free educational seminar, Extracurricular Development: Standing Out from the Competition, 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at 4600 El Camino Real, Suite 201, Los Altos.

The seminar will cover the relevance of extracurricular activities for college admissions and how to incorporate extra- curricular activities into an application.

Leukemia society seeks Students of the Year

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society seeks applicants for its Students of the Year program.

Program participants will engage in a seven-week fundraising competition to generate donations for cancer research.

Tutorfly hosts coding camp

Tutorfly, a service founded by Homestead High School students, is scheduled to host a web development coding camp for children ages 10 and up for 20 paying students and 10 low-income students.

The monthlong course is slated 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Tuesday, at Homestead High, 21370 Homestead Road, Cupertino.
