Freestyle Academy hosts open house
Freestyle Academy of Communication Arts and Technology is slated to host an open house 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at 1299 Bryant Ave., Mountain View.
The event will showcase student work, including photography, experimental films, personal mandalas, video essays and short animations.
Freestyle Academy is part of the Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District. The two-year program, open to 80 juniors and 80 seniors, gives students the opportunity to learn about various multimedia video, design and audio formats.
The open house is free and open to the public. Halloween costumes are optional.

GreenTeam collects e-waste Saturday at LAHS
The Los Altos High School Green Team is scheduled to host an e-waste collection fundraiser 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the high school, 201 Almond Ave.
Accepted items include: monitors, computers, laptops, cellphones, telecom equipment, television wires and cables, PC boards, scrap metal and aluminum, computer mice, keyboards, printers, toner and ink cartridges, stereo equipment and DVD, CD and MP3 players. Smoke detectors, fluorescent lights and alkaline batteries won’t be accepted.
MV nursery school hosts 5K Sunday
Mountain View Parent Nursey School is slated to host its sixth annual Down by the Bay 5K and Tot Trot Sunday at Baylands Park, 999 E. Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale.
The Tot Trot is set to begin at 9 a.m. and the 5K at 9:30 a.m.
Open to the all, the event will feature a 5K race with professional timekeeping. Halloween costumes are encouraged for both the 5K and Tot Trot. Refreshments and family-friendly activities will follow the races.
The nonprofit Mountain View Parent Nursery School is an accredited parent participation program and has been open since 1969.

LAHS Art Honor Society sponsors fundraiser
The National Art Honor Society at Los Altos High School is slated to host an art sale 4-7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the school’s cafeteria, 201 Almond Ave.
Student art will be on display and available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the art honor society. Only cash and checks will be accepted.
