Living Classroom holds event for potential docents
Living Classroom is set to host an informational meeting and garden tour for potential volunteers 10-11:30 a.m. Monday at the Los Altos School District iLearn Studio, 201 Covington Road.
Living Classroom is a group of trained volunteers who teach hands-on garden-based lessons to elementary school students in the Los Altos School District.
Volunteers do not need prior gardening or teaching experience and don’t need to live in Los Altos or have a child in the school district.
The group will offer fall docent training 9 a.m. to noon Mondays from Sept. 9 through Oct. 14, also in the iLearn Studio. Apprentice-style training is available for those who can’t make the Monday meetings.
Volunteers commit to six hours of work per month, split across three lessons.
Los Altos Art Docents host coffee for volunteers
The Los Altos Art Docents program is slated to host an informational coffee for potential volunteers 10-11:30 a.m. Aug. 29 in the Los Altos School District board room, 201 Covington Road.
The Los Altos Art Docents are a group of trained volunteers who teach art lessons at the elementary schools in the Los Altos School District.
No prior experience is necessary. Volunteers don’t need to live in Los Altos or have a child in the school district.
College prep company sponsors open house
FLEX College Prep is slated to host a back-to-school open house 6 p.m. Thursday at its Los Altos location, 4600 El Camino Real, Suite 201.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet FLEX’s admissions consultants, principal instructors and student alumni. Information will be available on the company’s counseling services and new standardized test prep curriculum.
The open house will include raffle drawings, refreshments, giveaways and games.
